Astronaut & Community Letter
June 2025
The crew of STS-93 deployed Chandra from the payload bay of the Space Shuttle Columbia in 1999. Today, they join more than 10,000 members of our community in a new (June 2025) letter to the Senate CJS Appropriations Committee. A similar letter has been sent to the House CJS Appropriations Committee. Read the Senate letter here.

Thank you, Jared

Thank you, members of Congress
The #SaveChandra movement is supported by a bipartisan, bicameral, and growing coalition of supporters in the House and Senate.
Last Fiscal Year (FY25), the Hill expressed this support in the form of protective line items in the House and Senate CJS Appropriations Bills, as well as the NASA Authorization Bill that passed the House.
A bipartisan coalition of Senators and Members of Congress also sent a number of letters to both the Appropriations Committees as well as NASA itself. You can read these letters — and learn more about where we currently stand — at this page.
